Nulla sine / sole umbra

Nulla sine sole umbra, meaning "no sunshine without shadow," or shortened to Sineumbra, is an underground network of interdisciplinary collaborations that has been active since 2017.

It all began in Bremen, Germany when visual artist Luisa Eugeni started experimenting with forms of interdisciplinary alliances and personal relationships. Her collaborators include performers from dance theatre, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, fashion and graphic designers, as well as mathematicians, writers, and artisans. Together, they create immersive environments that aim to investigate contemporary tragedies through various mediums such as film, spatial design, objects, live bodies, music, and literature.

The constellation of artists (in the broad sense) that have crossed paths and worked together with Sineumbra continues to flourish over time. Officially co-founded in 2019 by Luisa Eugeni and composer Mattia Bonafini, the project is now coordinated by Luisa Eugeni.
